Free Things To Do Museums and Art Galleries

This is a small specialist museum which is dedicated to the village of Frenchay, Bristol. Here you can find out about the history of some of Frenchays' famous people whose influence was felt throughout the UK and the rest of the world. The Fry family (inventors of the chocolate bar) lived in the village and, on display is a bar from the Great Exhibition in London 1851 as well as the 49 medals the company was awarded at International Expositions.

Find out who invented the ''Cyclon'' cleaner - later developed into todays' 'Dyson' vacuum cleaner. Visit the museum to learn more about this and other famous families such as the Tucketts from the village who are reputed to have founded Dunedin in New Zealand.
